Sandstone is composed of quartz or feldspar. Because they are the most resistant minerals to weathering processes it is commonly used for outdoor building projects like walls, walkways as well as large buildings like the Old City Hall, the old Grain Exchange building and many of the downtown schools found in Calgary’s city centre.
